The Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD) is a non-departmental public body supported by, but
independent of, the UK’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office. The organization's role is to strengthen multiparty democracies working closely with elected representatives and Parliament.

Since 2009 WFD has been working in Kenya with programmes focused on Parliamentary strengthening, Civil Society engagement and Political Inclusion.

NARC Kenya party leader Hon Martha Karua, who was present at the launch, stressed on the importance of political will in promoting disability rights and representation. She noted the NDMC as a testament to Kenya's commitment to upholding the principles of inclusivity and equality in its democratic processes.

NDMC is aimed at providing solutions to political challenges faced by People With Disabilities and create a conducive environment for their meaningful participation in political affairs.

Through partnership with Demo Finland, WFD has implemented in Kenya Inclusive Political Parties Programme (KIPP) which aims to strengthen the ability of political parties, and strategic actors including Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs), Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), State Actors and Parliamentary Caucuses, to maintain momentum of disability issues on the political agenda.

According to the organization's statistics, KIPP has supported 20 poitical parties in Kenya to embrace
inclusive multi-party democracy, while NDMC has brought together the political parties that have shown commitment to strengthening inclusive multi-party democracy that strive to set a common agenda that is supportive of PWD engagement in political parties.

Representatives of the People With Disabilities at the launch expressed their acceptance and support of the NDMC programme with the knowledge that their presence will be recognized and their voices heard in the political society of Kenya.
